What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device so the browser can remember a fact between page loads. Some are essential to operate a feature you asked for. Others help us understand which pages are read. LocalStorage entries can play a similar role; our consent banner uses one such entry so we do not ask you the same question on every visit.
Types we use
Essential. Required for the site to remember your cookie choice and to keep basic security and navigation working. These do not depend on the Accept button. Rejecting analytics does not remove essential storage and does not block courses, fees, journal articles, or the contact form.
Analytics (optional). Used only if you press Accept on the banner. They help us see aggregate readership of journal and course pages so we know what to revise. They are not used to build an advertising profile or to sell lists.

How to manage or disable cookies
On first visit the banner offers Accept and Reject with equal prominence. Rejecting optional analytics leaves the site fully usable. To change a later choice, clear this site’s cookies and LocalStorage in your browser settings, then reload; the banner will appear again. You can also block cookies entirely in the browser. Blocking all cookies may forget your banner choice and, on some browsers, may affect font loading.
Most desktop browsers expose cookie controls under Settings → Privacy. Mobile browsers vary; look for Site settings or Data in storage. Clearing all site data will also remove the consent key.
Third-party cookies
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts and images from a public image host (currently Unsplash). Those third parties may set their own cookies or collect technical data according to their notices. We do not control their cookies. We do not embed third-party advertising networks or social tracking pixels. If you reject analytics, we still load fonts and images because they are part of the page layout; that is not the same as enabling our optional dqg_read cookie.
Impact of disabling
Disabling essential storage may cause the cookie banner to reappear on every page. Disabling optional analytics only means we will not count your journal reads; you will still see every course, fee, and article. Disabling third-party font or image requests in a strict tracker blocker may change how the page looks (fallback fonts, missing photographs) but will not hide content behind a paywall or a fake unlock.
